ROOM FUSHION FRIDAY

Hey everyone! How has your week been? The weekend is here, and for some that means project time! But sometimes you can't quite seem to find the inspiration, print or pattern you're looking for. Maybe it's only as far as your nearest closet. Does your home represent your closet and your style? My new blog series (and a play on words) - Room Fushion Friday - will be highlighting the fusion of a wardrobe into fashion in a room and home.

I thrift. I love green. I live for black. I love accessories. I'm totally diggin' gold as well as pops of pink. I appreciate playing with patterns, solids, textures and light. This space is a total reflection of all that. Even in last Sunday's Miami Herald - Home & Design section, they had featured how everything is coming up rose motifs as the latest trend for the home for spring. That doesn't always mean you need to run to Pier 1 Imports to buy a new floral print club chair. Maybe YOU can become the fresh accessory you ad to your room...

The pink panels are from Ikea - Felicia - I had picked up on sale for $10 for the pair.
I had previously used them during February for Valentines and my first trial with pink.
I love them so much now, I've relocated them to the bedroom for Spring.

Pull out your pashminas from the closet too!
They can help add a layer of color to your space.

Pashmina / wrap banding added to the bench.

Not for now, but I'm totally inspired by this mix of leopard with the floral!
The leopard can work well with gold.

Massive pedestals I found while thrifting for only $2 each. Another shot of gold spray paint, and they were as good as new. Simple existing glass cylinders (I've had for years!!) sit securely and give the table a little shimmer & shine. Nested inside is some grass green moss I picked up at West Elm after Christmas on clearance. The brass taper holders inside, also found while thrifting last year.

My simple Ikea glossy white pots add more shine to the table and are hold a single hydrangea bloom, I just cut and twisted stem to fit. I also removed one leaf from each and added to the baskets. The leaves can easily become the place cards. The pots I had used more three mini trees two Christmas seasons ago.

The gold I've added are all the same value & shade,
which gives a cohesive look to the space.

Graphic placemats I found one day at Homegoods.
At only $1.99 each - that's too much power & impact to pass up!
It will work many times with other items I already have.

Mixing old, thrifted finds and a little something new is a
great way to update the look of your tablescapes...

Dishes: all thrift finds from last Fall (remember the B&W plaid Fitz & Floyd from Thanksgiving?) A simple little basket found in the $1 bin at Micheal's Craft store I sprayed in trendy gold. The baskets is filled with pink & green wrapped chocolates for guests. The printed napkin is a fabric quarter from JoAnn's - tied twice into a knot, and tucked into the basket - no napkin rings required.

The green and pink birds were too cute to pass up in Michael's.
They are a fun & funky Spring surprise to add to a table.

The black glass wine glasses were my first tableware item I ever purchased.
A set of 8 I think was only $15 about 18 years (or more) ago.
The green glasses I've used at Christmas. I picked them up at Pier 1 probably back in 2006.
The graphic runner I've also had for probably 5 years.
I love the way it all mixed together...

See - there is the leaf in the basket.
Reuse and repurpose with style anytime you can.

Even the DIY Fabric Focal Point works as another layer of pattern in the space and works with a modern take on a Spring Garden motif.

As does the dress in the space.
I had gotten this dress at The Limited - on clearance for only $19 - to wear
to see the first Sex & The City movie.

Take a look around...
Do you wear your room? Or does your room wear you?

Hope you are inspired & enjoyed this first

fuse a wardrobe into room fashion.

  5. Beautifully elegant tablescape. I love the pedestal hurricanes you created. You seriously scored on those placemats. I'm afraid I'm going to have to make a trip to HomeGoods next week to see if I can get lucky, too.

Love the combination of colors, too!
