SIMPLY FALL

Happy Monday everyone! And thank you to the new followers of Focal Point! It's amazing to have seen the growth to the blog during the past months... and it's hard to believe - I'm coming up on my one year by the end of the month.  I hope this weekend was productive for you as we''re getting closer to the holidays. Along with finalizing some choices on my Client Project (I'll be sharing with you shortly) I put the finishing touches on our home for Fall. It all started fairly neutral, with the inspiration mainly coming from fall leaves and branches. I had the branches, but South Florida is still VERY green... So I took a tip from all of you and checked out my local Dollar Store....

I switched out the base container for the branches from a lower black wicker urn, back to the larger brown urns I previously used during the summer with bamboo poles. I also picked up two bags of moss at only $1 each, and a few fall leaf sprays at Michael's - where I got a special event sale price PLUS a coupon for 15% off entire purchase (which they usually do NOT do). Using the spray towards the base of the urn opening, and securing a glass container inside the urn (filled with small river pebbles) I was able to make the bare branches have more impact and drama in the dining room...

Sephora supervised the installation... and thankfully is not playing with the Fall decor like she did with the ting-ting I had in the urns during Summer - She LOVES to play with sticks! To make the leaves really stand out, this year I didn't use the orange panels in the dining space. I added weight to the window wall by using my chocolate velvet panels with black sheers. The black sheers are almost smokey sheer. This visually also works well on the wall with the relatively newly painted black door. Adding the leaves to the buffet also helped to build up the vignette, which I added some pieces we found while up in Georgia: the horse shoe and an old weathered bottle.. I'd like to put in the frames two images of horses I captured while we were there too...

View in from entering the front door. I did use the burnt orange panels in the living space this year (I didn't last year) and it helped relate the two spaces. The living space (I'll post tomorrow) also has chocolate velvet panels for Fall.
And Halloween is just up those stairs...

The burnt orange leaves visually pop off the background of the black door.

Simple Fall touches this year at the front door. I usually use garland to frame the entrance and wreaths around garage lights. This year I skipped the garland, and brought the wreaths inside (in the living room). I just need to put the Indian corn on the door... It's just enough fall for Florida...

What projects did you work on over the weekend?
Window washing? Closet clean out? Crafting?
I'd love to hear about it...

Have a wonderful Fall!
