Over the weekend, an organization here in Arizona called Thunderbird Artists held one of several Art & Wine festivals they are hosting this year. The other two art festivals the Thunderbird Artist coordinated were the Carefree Fine Art and Wine Festival and the Arizona Fine Art Expo. I was especially looking forward to attending this one in particular since it was situated on water - a rarity to find here in the Valley of the Sun. Although it wasn't quite as large as the Coconut Grove Art Festival we would attend in Miami, it was still a relaxing experience to enjoying - taking in local artists creations, along with tasting wines - all set along the waterfront at SouthBridge in Scottsdale...
I guess you could say, the heat of the summers here in Arizona are the equivalent of the harsh winter the east coast is experiencing this year - so now is the best time of year to experience outdoor events. I'm glad we went (I forgot how much I enjoy Riesling!)
The event ran Friday - Sunday. We went late afternoon Saturday. Before arriving to the Art & Wine Festival, we had lunch at our favorite burger place here in AZ: Burger Rehab - also located in Scottsdale plus we went to the VNSA Used Book Fair that was happening Saturday & Sunday in Phoenix at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. Friday night (for Valentines) we had dinner at a local Wine Bistro near us in Chandler called Dvine, and afterwards, ventured over to a resort casino. Between the mix of books + art + food + wine and people this weekend, it made us both feel like we were back in Miami.
Hope you too had a fun weekend experiencing local entertainment or events in your area!
Thanks for stopping by,
I was at the Wine and Art Fair on Friday -- beautiful weather, beautiful art, good wine! Love your pictures.
