End of the year note of Thanks...

It's hard to believe, the week is not only already half over - But so too has the year nearly ended! It's been quite a busy year filled with new home DIY experiments I've shared with you, some more thrift treasures transformed, client projects, working with David Bromstad & the Colorsplash crew, a trip to NYC for the 911 Ten Year Anniversary, selling our home of five years, and packing up to move across the country! Now that the dust is settling, Christmas has been taken down, packed up and put away, I'd like to take a moment to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who stopped by for a visit, pinned a few inspirations, featured Focal Point on your blog or site, left a sweet comment or tweet, and most of all... Thank You for the thoughtful words of encouragement and hanging in there during my transition / move from South Florida out west to Arizona!

Although there have been some wonderful friends & support on Facebook I'd also like to thank (Lisa, Janelle, Sandra, Linda, Emma, Caron, Gloria, James, Joel, Marcie, Michelle, Brandi & Bonnie)... nothing quite beats those perosnal bonds you make with people through the years. Some close friends back in Florida I miss and would also like to thank for their friendship and support this year are Rosemarie Booz, Rebeca Suarez, Patricia Anthony, Diane Pemberton, and my dear friend Jose Vazquez ~ I especially miss so much!! Thank you also mom, Marcia, Gail, Jeff, & Sephora, for bringing me so much comfort & joy!

A dozen blogs of note I'd like to thank for their referrals & features are:

A DAY AT THE DCOTA's WINTER MARKET

Bloggers & designers united yesterday for a panel discussion by Elle Decor at the DCOTA's 2011 Winter Market. A panel of bloggers discussed how they began blogging and the ever so supportive blogging community. From a design perspective, the panel also discussed how the Internet has changed the world of design by creating more 'access' of information to potential clients and how blogging has helped to 'humanize' designers.

Some of the scheduled panel were unable to attend do to treacherous winter weather - however, of those attending I had the pleasure of meeting: Jennifer Boles of The Peak of Chic,  Stefan Bureau of Architect Design, and the lovely Brooke Giannetti of Velvet & Linen. Part of their discussion also included connecting beyond the blog - not only via facebook and twitter - but subscribing to blogs.

Subscribing makes it easier to keep current with your favorite blogs... which, thankfully because I do subscribe to Velvet & Linen, I had learned of this event and was able to attend.

Other events are also happening at the DCOTA (like the The 2011 Design House opening to the public today!!) along with a tour of the showrooms, which is sure to inspire (and also picked up some additional sources for the team!). I'll be posting pics and info shortly... so stay tuned!

ELLEDECOR's REDESIGNING DESIGN DISCUSSION @ THE DCOTA

A keynote panel discussion will be featured this Tuesday January 18th at 2pm for the Winter Market Event at the Design Center Of The Americas (DCOTA) in Fort Lauderdale. The discussion for Redesigning Design will be lead by elledecor.com Executive Editor Allison Mezzafonte. The panel will include not only designers, but BLOGGERS: Gaye Tapp of Little Augury, Jennifer Boles of The Peak of Chic, Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic, Stefan Hurray of Architect Design and Brooke Giannetti of Velvet & Linen will be talking about:
  1. How blogging is changing the world of design
  2. How you can tap int the Internet & become part of the online design world
  3. How to leverage bloggers' influence to grow your client database

So looking forward to listening, learning and absorbing all they have to say about not only the design industry, but how blogging has changed it... and even meeting few of the panel.
