AN UNEXPECTED FIND

Back in April, I had gone on a day trip to Key Largo with my friend Rebeca. While we were out exploring, I spotted this amazing mini shell stranded necklace in the most unlikely place - a popular drug store called CVS. We had popped in to there to pick up a Coke, water and a magazine on our way to the beach. The necklace is just too fabulous to hide away in a jewelry box, so besides wearing it with a summery outfit, I've also used it dress an urn in our summer style home...

Fab Find in an unlikely place - a drug store...

LOVE all the strands...

Works well for summer style...

And the shells added a bit of texture to
the white on white look for this old pitcher.
(I think it's over 10 years old & use to be black.)

I have some other shell necklaces I've used too - on the beach bottles...

It just goes to show, that you never know where your next fab find will be...

Always be aware.

What unexpected place did you ever spot a fab find??
A pet store? A candy shop? The grocery store?

Happy Summer!

RENEWED LACQUERED LOVE of SABINA DANENBERG ANTIQUES

While visiting the Miami Design and Antique Expo (MADE) last week, I had also stumbled upon another vintage store: DANENBERG ANTIQUES. After speaking with the owner, Sabina Danaenberg, I learned this Manhattan transfer was first established up in West Palm Beach, Florida. After having her successful shop up in West Palm for over thirteen years, she decided to relocate south to the up & coming renewed area of Miami, near the Design District. Although her store is not necessarily set with vignettes, wandering around it can still spark inspiration. When I asked her how business was, she told me most of her business is actually done online, at her site and on 1stDibs. I love the way she's refreshed and renewed these treasures into some hip Miami gems... all with a shot of lacquer love...

Some pieces are still in their natural state, but
you could still see the great lines of these finds...

LOVE the rings centered down this pair of chairs...

Many of the chairs were stored on
metal shelving lining the thirteen-foot walls of the space,
while the larger pieces were sorted - sofas to one side,
and buffets & chests to the other.

Although I didn't get some good shots to
showcase her pieces,
you can see more and learn more about Sabina at

She also carries some vintage watches
and costume jewelry on her site...

Have a wonderful Thrifty Thursday!

THRIFTY THURSDAY: M.A.D.E. IN MIAMI

In a post earlier this week (Color Makes A Splash In Miami), I featured David Bromstad and his mention of favored hot spot to shop for fabulous furnishings in Miami - M.A.D.E. So for this weeks Thrifty Thursday, I decided to take a little trip down to Miami to check it out. Also known as Miami Antique and Design Expo, this find is situated just north of downtown Miami and just south of Miami Shores, on Biscayne Boulevard - also near the Design District. Its finished warehouse-like space is mostly vignette-set and packed full of vintage treasures from Bal Harbour Baroque to Mid Century Modern furnishings, lighting, books, mirrors, art and decor...

Find studs on furniture or in wall art...

From M.A.D.E. press: Best Vintage Design Store
"Run by brothers Robert and Carl Massello, M.A.D.E. features booths sponsored by a variety of local dealers, all of whom have favorite styles, designers, and periods, so you'll find bureaus rescued from the old Eden Roc Hotel next to Sixties Brown Jordan outdoor furniture next to Eames Eiffel-base plastic chairs."

I see an opportunity here...
To showcase even more fab finds down the aisle...
NOT stacked out as clutter - but featured as statements -
on a smaller scale like featured in yesterdays post in

As noted on design-sponge, M.A.D.E. is

"Unassuming and easy to miss while driving.
But it is easily one of the best sources
for home furnishings in Miami."
And as I learned, it has successfully been
in this location for the past five years...
