Cast Your VOTE in the Tobi Fairley Get Published Challenge at Olioboard!

Stripes continue to be a strong trend for 2013 and that is the theme for the current Get Published Challenge sponsored by Interior Designer Tobi Fairley on Olioboard! The challenge is to create a dynamic space filled with energy plus style using the 2013 trend of stripes! By doing so, people who enter are to create a space with that has a wow factor deserving to get published. The Top 25 boards are also being judged for a chance to win one of two passes to attend Tobi's Design Camp: The Journey to Getting Published. The judges are Crystal Gentilello, founder of RUE magazine, Ronda Carmen, founder of All The Best | A Passport To Stylish Living blog, Krissa Rossbund,Senior Style Editor at Traditional Home!  I entered two boards - both drastically different...

CHALLENGE ENTRY: BOARD 1
Thanks to all of your votes, you have already helped one of my boards I entered (see above) move up to PAGE 3 out of 46 with 260 votes -- BUT, I will need your help to keep it there or better yet -- Move n Up!  For the board I had originally created for the Get Vignette Set post had used two versions of stripes: In the back-ground with the bold horizontal window panels, and in the foreground with a pair of thinner stripe high back chairs. You can click the link here to VOTE: http://olioboard.com/boards/176415-virtual-vignette  VOTE once daily - NOW thru March 6th!

CHALLENGE ENTRY: BOARD 2
For the other board, I used a stripe room background, paired with a thinner stripe slipper chair pair and mixed with another popular Spring trend: the Greek Key motif. For a little color, I used by two faves (also on trend for Spring) pops of cool blues and greens... For this board (thanks to you!) I'm currently on page 9 of 47 with 132 votes! You can click the link here to VOTE:  http://olioboard.com/boards/177580-greek-geek

OSCARS 2013

Pale polished looks plus metallics seemed to rule the red carpet looks last night! My absolute FAVE for Best Dressed was Charlize Theron in a stark white Christian Dior Haute Couture gown - from cropped hair, to natural make-up, to minimal accessories and structured gown she was just pure elegance! A nod to old Hollywood glam, and IMO looking her best all red-carpet season was Jessica Chastain wearing a strapless Armani Prive gown with Christian Louboutin heels - Again with minimal accessories and LOVED the wave in her long locks. Another fave for the look, but unfortunate wardrobe mishap was Jennifer Lawrence in her blush Dior Haute Couture gown. I felt SO BAD for her when she slipped and fell on the stairs going up to receive her award - but she made a quick and graceful recovery! Besides the pale minimal looks on the red carpet last night were marvelous metallics in noir, silver and gold, hues in blues, and a 'hint' of mint for Spring...

Charilze wins my vote for BEST DRESSED! Loved!

Pale shades...

Metallics with gold...

Metallics with silver...

Deep hues of blue were also popular. While I appreciated the attempt at a "Hi/Low" look from Helen Hunt's dress by H&M, it wrinkled like crazy - Not very Red Carpet. But Jennifer Hudson looked stunning both on the red carpet and for her Dream Girls performance of "I am telling you!" Yeah - she told us... SHE ROCKED!

Alicia Vikander is lovely in Elie Saab

Amy Adams looked stunning in a Oscar de la Renta gown.

The best part of the Oscars was watching all the arrivals. IMO - I didn't care for the show... I kept it on while pinning Spring Trends for 2013! Did you watch the Oscars? What was some of your fave moments and fave dress?

An absolute FAVE of mine from one of the Pre-Oscar parties was a stripe & strapless jumpsuit from Chanel...

and I also LOVED Jennifer Lawrence's take on a tux!

Secondhand Style for Spring

Besides shopping around town for furniture finds here in AZ for my client, I've also been keeping an eye out for some Spring finds to spruce up my wardrobe. In January, a local consignment shop called My Sister's Closet held their Winter Progressive Clearance Sale, to clear the store for their Spring set. Although I popped in on the last day, I did manage to find a sweater and a black bag for 50% off their already discounted prices. Yesterday, I popped in to My Sister's Closet to comb through their Spring assortment here in Chandler and found some GREAT graphic prints -- perfect for Spring!

Comfy B&W cardi...

Great graphic tunic - perfect for leggings & flats.

White stone necklace...

Trying to break free from my all black, the past few years, I've been adding more prints and love them! Tried all these above, but only got the top two: The sleeveless print tunic and the long cardi (LOVE!) Back in January, for the 50% off sale at My Sisters Closet, I picked up a black Nine West bag (only $6!), a grey and black sweater, and a great little Betsy Johnson knit black dress...

Besides My Sister's Closet, I also found a NEW B&W dress, from The Limited at Savers Thrift. It was originally $78 at The Limited - selling for $19.99 at Savers, but I got for $10 because I had a $10 Gift Certificate from Santa Claus :)

and... found a GREAT little dress - PERFECT for Valentines - although it's a bit too chilly to wear now. Will save for our anniversary in May...

SURPRISE! Yes - A shot of color! :)

Gotta love the thrill of thrift!
You never know what your going to get - but you WILL always score a look for less!

Thanks for stopping by and have a
Happy Valentines Day!
